There's much to see here. So, take your time, look around, and learn all there is to know about our services. We look forward to hearing from you.
Whether utilizing state of the art fully robotic conventional total stations or a large number of the latest in Global Positioning Systems (GPS) receivers and post processing software, WMK can handle any size boundary resolution with speed and accuracy. From small lots to thousands of acres, we have provided our clients with surveys conducted in many of the western states. Our staff has years of progressive experience analyzing and using private surveys, United States Government Land Office (USGLO) and Bureau of Land Management (BLM) field notes and plats and various research documents.
Topographic surveying involves locating terrestrial features and elevations that can be used for 2 dimensional planimetrics and or full 3 dimensional terrain modeling and contouring. WMK Surveying has many different ways of acquiring this topographic data. The “standard” method is by conventional survey techniques. This requires the surveyor to use a total station to locate features and ground shots. This is a tried and true method that has become much faster with the advent of the fully robotic total stations that all of our field crews employ.
WMK will engage aerial mapping firms for large projects and supplement data with conventional topographic surveying methods. Our relationships with these firms, provides seamless services for our product deliverables.
Often referred to as Cartography, “Mapping” is the study and application of making maps. Plats, sometimes referred to as cadastral maps is the generic term for the survey mapping products created at WMK. Each state and in some cases each county or jurisdiction will have certain requirements and names for these types of maps. Examples of these types of maps include; subdivision plats, parcel maps, record of survey, parcel plats and corner records. WMK has several award winning mappers on staff and is proficient in the preparation of maps which meet statutory and local government requirements.
No matter what size of project you have, WMK can provide customized construction staking to suit your needs. We have an extensive Quality Assurance and Quality Control program that involves a thorough check and recheck to ensure any potential design problems or mistakes get caught before they are built. This keeps your project on schedule and on budget. At WMK client communication is paramount. This allows the project to flow much smoother and leaves less room for any potential errors. We pride ourselves on effective communication.
The American Land Title Association (ALTA) and the National Society of Professional Land Surveyors have developed a set of standards, which is updated periodically. Surveys prepared to the standards are to meet the needs and requirements of clients, insurers, insureds and lenders. These surveys, when prepared in accordance with the standards are considered by industry as uniform, complete and accurate. At WMK, adherence to these standards, when preparing an ALTA/NSPS Land Title Survey is paramount. At WMK, providing excellent communication and coordination with title companies, attorneys and lenders and other interested parties, together with performing superior field work, research and mapping is the key to the successful production of and ALTA/NSPS Land Title Survey.
Forward project planning is always a priority for WMK. The success of pipeline projects is dependent on planning for scope, logistics and safety. WMK’s established safety program can be merged with project specific requirements and policies to ensure the safety of its workers. WMK regularly adapts to project logistics, providing four wheel drive work trucks, ATVs, UTVs and mobile housing.
If your pipeline or transmission project warrants a forward-thinking firm that utilizes the most modern equipment and methods to insure accuracy and efficiency, WMK is your trusted partner.
WMK offers innovative solutions to meet the demands of our mining clients. All of our field personnel are Mining Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) certified. Project planning, utilization of conventional surveying technology, GPS and remote-control bathymetric boats provide time efficiencies and realized costs savings.
WMK provides the following services for the mining industry:
The term “bathymetry” originally referred to the ocean’s depth relative to sea level, although it has come to mean “submarine topography,” or the depths and shapes of underwater terrain.
In the same way that topographic maps represent the three-dimensional features (or relief) of overland terrain, bathymetric maps illustrate the land that lies underwater. Variations in sea-floor relief may be depicted by color and contour lines called depth contours or isobaths.
In lieu of mobilizing a manned boat or putting people in the water in a hazardous location survey, WMK can launch the Z-Boat and start surveying immediately. The Z-Boat’s echo sounder and GPS are integrated with a radio modem data transmission system allowing our operator to view the boat track or grid in real time on the shore with a customized laptop. Not only can soundings be reviewed as the data is collected, but survey lines can be easily followed with help from the laptop display. By using the Z-Boat we have effectively reduced the time it takes to collect data and also ensured the safety of our employees.
A 3D scanner is a device that analyses a real-world object or environment to collect data on its shape and possibly its appearance (e.g. colour). The collected data can then be used to construct digital three-dimensional models.
Many different technologies can be used to build these 3D-scanning devices; each technology comes with its own limitations, advantages and costs. Many limitations in the kind of objects that can be digitised are still present, for example, optical technologies encounter many difficulties with shiny, mirroring or transparent objects. For example, industrial computed tomography scanning can be used to construct digital 3D models, applying non-destructive testing.
Collected 3D data is useful for a wide variety of applications. These devices are used extensively by the entertainment industry in the production of movies and video games. Other common applications of this technology include industrial design, orthotics and prosthetics, reverse engineering and prototyping, quality control/inspection and documentation of cultural artifacts.
WMK provides well qualified expert witness services in areas of practice listed under “Professional Services”. Our experienced experts have provided field investigations, preparation of reports, depositions and court testimony.
An initial consultation between WMK and the client is essential to fully understand the case parameters. Each case is unique and will require a preliminary review for determination of the scope of services, deliverables and fees.
When selecting an expert, WMK will review the specific case and assign the most qualified expert to represent the client. Our expert and their team will oversee and/or perform all of the investigation, field work, review of evidence and report preparation.
Nevada is the driest state in the nation. Throughout the west, the right to use water has long been the lifeline to success. WMK’s state appointed Water Right Surveyors work regularly on a diversified range of projects for urban public agencies and rural water districts to Nevada ranches and dairy operations. A thorough review of each client’s needs and goals is assessed for each project.
